Nicolette International School Celebrates Cultural Day with a Vibrant Showcase of Heritage and Diversity

Nicolette International School once again brought color, energy, and cultural richness to life during its annual Cultural Day — a vibrant and educative celebration held under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage and Diverse Cultural Identity.”
The event, hosted on the school grounds, attracted enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teachers, and community leaders — all coming together to honor the diverse cultural backgrounds that shape the Nicolette community.
From Uganda’s deep-rooted traditions to global customs, the day was a joyful tribute to the power of diversity.
Students across all grade levels proudly donned traditional attire representing cultures from Uganda and beyond.
They showcased their heritage through exhibitions, music, dance, drama, and culinary displays.
Cultural booths featured regional exhibits, colorful visuals, and traditional delicacies for guests to sample — creating a truly immersive experience.
According to Ms. Nabatanzi Catherine, a school administrator, the aim of the event is to nurture cultural pride and strengthen identity in students, a cornerstone of Nicolette’s holistic approach to education.
“When children understand and appreciate their roots — and those of others — they grow into empathetic, inclusive, and confident individuals. This day reminds us that diversity is about connection, learning, and mutual respect,” she shared.
The day’s highlights included captivating traditional dances, drama performances, a cultural fashion show, and student-led presentations. Parents also played a vital role, preparing traditional dishes and supporting their children in bringing each culture to life — further enriching the sense of community.
Mr. Amos Ogola, Head of the English Department, remarked,
“It’s inspiring to see students confidently sharing stories about their heritage and others’. This kind of experiential learning goes beyond, it shapes character and nurtures global citizens.”
Nicolette International School, which blends the Cambridge International curriculum with Ugandan educational values, continues to provide spaces where academic excellence meets cultural celebration.
Cultural Day stands out as a powerful platform preparing students to thrive in a diverse, interconnected world.
