Rukungiri MP Hopeful Nabaasa Kashobera Boosts School Renovation with Window Shutters Donation

Aspiring Woman Member of Parliament for Rukungiri District, Ms. Nabaasa Innocent Kashobera, has taken a hands-on approach to education development, donating 10 window shutters towards the renovation of Rutooma Integrated Primary School in Buhunga Sub-county.

Ms. Kashobera personally delivered the shutters during a colorful fundraising event organized by the school management, which began with Holy Mass. The initiative aims to rehabilitate dilapidated classroom structures, particularly ahead of the rainy season when unsealed windows often let water into learning spaces.
“I was moved to act because our children deserve a safe, comfortable learning environment, free from the disruption of rain,” Ms. Kashobera said during her remarks.
In addition to her support for education, Ms. Kashobera revealed the launch of a community skilling program targeting women and youth in hard-to-reach areas such as Rwenshama, Bwambara, and Nyakishenyi. The program offers training in soap making and bakery, with the aim of creating jobs and empowering marginalized communities.
The event drew a strong turnout, including the Minister for Security, Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, who lauded the Catholic Church’s long-standing contribution to Uganda’s education sector. He also made a personal contribution to the renovation fund and pledged ongoing support.
According to the school’s headteacher, the institution requires approximately UGX 20 million for full renovations. Thanks to the efforts of community members, local leaders, and well-wishers, a significant portion of the funds was raised during the event.
Rutooma Integrated Primary School continues to serve hundreds of learners in Buhunga Sub-county, and the ongoing renovations are expected to dramatically improve learning conditions.
